Skating in Burlington

Dust off those skates and head on out to one of our outdoor rinks. The Burlington Rotary Centennial Pond located at Discovery Landing in Spencer Smith Park offers recreational skating free of charge. They also offer skate lending.

The Royal Botanical Garden is featuring skating at Princess Point. Please check on ice depth and safety.

Try the Artificial Outdoor Rink at Sherwood Forest Park.

Tobogganing in Burlington

Burlington has some great toboggan hills which are safe for all to enjoy: LaSalle Park, at the east of the parking lot

Tyandaga Golf Course, at hole No. 4, on the west slope

Central Park, the hill northwest of Community Garden

Brant Hills Park, southwest of tennis courts

Nelson Park, east side of the park, north of Centennial Bike Path

Lowville Park, the hill on the southwest end of the park.

The Winterlit Experience

Experience the inspiring magic of Mountsberg from beneath a breathtaking display of lights on our Winterlit trail. Enjoy a moonlit stroll beside the bonfire taking in the crisp air and the glow of smiling faces of the family while reflecting on the serenity natural spaces have brought us throughout the year. Our popular After Dark series returns! Grab a drink, enjoy the music, and experience Under the Canopy after dark! On the fourth Thursday of each month, RBG’s winter exhibit is transformed into a nightlife experience like no other.

Winter Wagon Rides

Don’t let winter keep you inside! At Mountsberg Conservation Area we invite you to join us on a horse-drawn ride through a winter wonderland. Make a day of it by visiting with the park’s resident birds of prey and farm animals, followed by a trip to the barn and gift shop. A day spent outside in the crisp winter air and everyone will head home ready for a long winter’s nap.

RBG: Under the Canopy

Families looking for an exciting and inspiring experience this season can find adventure at Under the Canopy: Animals of the Rainforest, Royal Botanical Gardens’ (RBG) newest winter exhibit. From February 4th to May 1st, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., take a peek Under the Canopy, meet some of the coolest creatures who live there, and discover why all life depends on the rainforest.
